The Dolomites are called one of the most beautiful mountains in the world for a reason. Thanks to their geological content, they are indeed different and unique. Soft material of which these mountains are made up originates from limestone. That is why it was easily affected by thousands of years of the action of snow, ice, water and wind, shaping the unusual and distinct form of these mountains. Massive mountain groups and sheer cliffs and mountain tops create this unique landscape, and it sometimes seems that you are surrounded by fancy castles. These mountains are especially beautiful at sunset, when rays of the setting sun give the rocky slopes all kinds of unusual colors, from glowing red to purple. This natural phenomenon is also one of the well-known sights of the Dolomites and is called Enrosadira.

The beauty and uniqueness of the landscape in these mountains have been internationally recognized in summer 2009 when UNESCO has enlisted the Dolomites as a World Heritage Site. The nature has created the best conditions for the Dolomites to become a perfect place for a vacation. Since they are located on the Southern side of the Alps, the climate here is especially mild and well-protected by the mountains from cold north winds. On average, 8 out of 10 days are sunny, making your rest in these mountains particularly bright and remarkable, while low humidity makes the snow in the Dolomites very soft and flaky.

Abundant snow in the tracks is guaranteed. Even if there are no snowfalls in the Dolomites for a while, modern technologies come into play. 90% of the tracks are equipped with special snow machines which, if needed, do their job perfectly and provide enough snow for comfortable skiing. Besides skiing and snowboarding, Dolomiti Superski resorts also offer a number of other opportunities for your leisure. They include cross country skiing, skating, aqua parks, historic and cultural landmarks and many others. A holiday in Dolomites is an excellent opportunity to make a trip to Venice, Verona or Innsbruck.

Italians are fond of good and tasty food, and the Dolomites are not an exception. Since this region is located between two cultures – Austrian (Tyrolean, to be more precise) and Italian, the local cuisine is a well-balanced unity of local, Tyrolean and Italian food traditions. It is a mix of the best features of rich but a bit too simple Tyrolean cuisine and refined Mediterranean cuisine. All this and excellent wines from Alto Adidge, Trentino, Veneto and other regions of Italy may be tasted in one of the numerous cosy restaurants.

And of course, a vacation in Italy is unimaginable without shopping. Any resort has a lot of shops with clothes and accessories from Italian and world-famous designers, sports clothes and equipment for skiing, snowboarding and other types of active rest, souvenirs and more. If the choice in local shops seems insufficient, you can make up for it by going to nearby large cities – Trento and Bolzano, or in shopping centers and outlets.
